Alexander Technique and Singing

I've been noticing lately that many of my students could benefit from Alexander Technique. I was fortunate to study voice for 3 years with Dr. Cinda Thomas who was a certified instructor of Alexander Technique as well as a voice teacher. I found that the work helped me find an alignment that helped me sing freely and with more resonance. I learned about my holding patterns and habitual movements and learned new habits that allowed me to sing with ease. Alexander Technique is very helpful for managing stage fright and allowing a performer to be fully engaged in the performance and connected with the audience.

After Dr. Thomas moved out of state, I was at a loss as to who to recommend my students to for this valuable instruction. As fate would have it, I was contacted the other day by Peter Jacobson, Certified Instructor of Alexander Technique. He recently set up a practice in Baltimore and was reaching out to voice teachers in the area. He offered to host a free introduction to Alexander Technique workshop to my students and other singers in the area.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to try Alexander Technique.
